Great bang for buck grinder!

I got this grinder to go with a Gaggia Classic pro I recently purchased.
Grinds fine enough for a good espresso.
Best way to use this machine is to dose grind, weighing your beans for each shot then grinding through till empty.
It is easy to clean out so I would recommend doing that at least once a month.

All in all very happy with my purchase.

Great Addition to The Bambino

I bought this about a month ago to compliment my new Bambino. I researched reviews and the Dosh Control was recommended highly. It is easy to work and through experimenting have found my perfect grind is 15 and 9 seconds.

Annoying electrical sound from unit in standby

https://photos-eu.bazaarvoice.com/photo/2/cGhvdG86YnJldmlsbGUtdWs/807427af-b33d-587d-9472-d665b40a7364

Grinds just fine but making an electrical humming/white noise whilst in standby which I find very uncomfortable. I have to keep turning it off at the socket which isn’t the easiest in my circumstances.

I’ve had two of these grinders with the same issue.

Blockage caused by no impeller blades.

Not a pleasant experience so far but i'm hoping the customer support team can pull the rabbit out of a hat and issue me a replacement by Saturday. To cut a long story short, I purchased this grinder from a major uk retailer and exchanged it within 24 hours due to a fault - The coffee grounds were somehow blocked and were not being dispersed out from the grind chamber.

The exchange unit I received appeared to have the same fault. After spending just under hour on the phone with customer support, we removed both top and bottom burrs to discover there was only a felt washer and no impeller blades in the bottom of the unit.

I hope Sage can issue me a replacement unit quickly as this whole experience has been very disappointing.

An excellent filter coffee grinder

https://photos-eu.bazaarvoice.com/photo/2/cGhvdG86YnJldmlsbGUtdWs/b525a804-24d9-557c-8313-e81613ded9ed

I bought this grinder exclusively for filter coffee and it's giving really great results. It's incredibly intuitive and easy to adjust. I've yet to take the burrs out to clean so can't comment on that. The grinder tends to hold onto 0.2g of coarse grinds and chaff so allow for that when dosing. It's a shame that the grinder doesn't come with a dosing cup for filter but I found a small Rhino Wares dosing cup fits into the portafilter holder well so that's a neat solution for filter coffee. I've only had a hand grinder previously so can't compare to other electric burr grinders but overall I'm incredibly happy with the ease of use and quality of coffee I'm getting. I'm hoping I won't have an issue with the grinder but I've heard that Sage are fantastic to deal with.

Amazing Grinder

Read a lot of reviews and did my research and even asked Sage on the best grinder...
This one wins every time!

Drops grinding a all over the bench

I have had the grinder for a few years and it works well. I would love it except for how messy it is. No matter how I try to avoid it the grinds spray over the back of the machine and make a real mess or drop out after on to the bottom as shown in the photo.

Two months old and so far, very good.

After researching this and other grinders, I decided that the Dose Control Pro was the most suitable for my requirements and budget. I have a Sage espresso machine but was not getting the most from it due to grind size limitations on a cheaper grinder. An e-mail from Sage confirmed the plastic impeller that drew so many negative comments has been replaced and is now metal.

Appearance first, a personal thing but I consider the design and colour pairs well with the espresso machine. The hopper is larger than I would ever fill but not excessive. It is also easy to fill.
The attached mains cord and plug, UK 3 pin, is 70cm and so will have to be fairly close to the socket. Switched on there is a very slight buzzing sound and considering there will also be the espresso machine working or a kettle on I cannot see this will be a problem. When not in use I always switch off at the plug. A small complaint is the plug not easy to remove from socket and could benefit from a slight redesign.

Now the important part, does it grind fine enough? Using fresh dark roast beans, set at the recommended dial setting and using a very firm tamping the extraction rate was too fast so with a few days of adjusting both I am now using dial number 9 and a moderate tamp for a 25 second espresso size cup and will be experimenting around this. A dial setting of 3 and a light tamp I consider too fine for espresso with the extraction being too long.

Dose timer selection increments are fine enough, the pause selection is a benefit I regularly grind some for later in the day, I fill the single wall filter basket, pause, then grind the remaining beans into a container, I have a small container to catch the excess. There is sometimes a little spillage but not excessive and this will depend on the grind size and static build-up, use a soft brush to get this into the container, I do not waste coffee! When removing hopper lid some fine grinds may fall on to tray.

Basic cleaning is easy, remove hopper and use soft brush, also turn the grinder over to remove bean remnants, or the hopper may be difficult to refit, I have not removed & cleaned inside burrs yet.

Grind size is convenient to adjust but can be altered when removing hopper, check setting after refit. I am currently only using at the fine grind setting however the grinds currently seem consistent.

Noise, a medium to high pitch sound, not excessive and certainly a lot quieter than my other grinder.

To summarise, I consider this grinder quick, convenient and grinds coffee fine enough so it has fulfilled my requirements, I can enjoy full flavour espresso with a proper crema!
Regarding value, this will depend on product life.
