If your coffee tastes cooler than expected, first preheat the filter basket and carafe by running hot water through the unit. This helps stabilize temperature before brewing. You can also increase the brew temperature (up to 98°C / 208°F) in Settings and slow down the flow rate for hotter extraction.
If you have a BDC415, it comes with a heater plate that will automatically turn on for brews over 600mls / 20 fl oz (4 cups). If you are making brews smaller than this size, you can manually activate it by going into Settings > Keep Warm, selecting a duration, then pressing and holding for 3 seconds.
If your coffee temperature is still too low, or if your machine won’t get to the proper heating temperature, you may need to run a descale cycle on your machine so the sensors and heating elements can work correctly.
