We have had this kettle since October 2018. Whilst it worked, it worked well and looked amazing but now it is a SAFETY HAZARD. 

Like other reviewers have mentioned, the plastic around the lid is brittle, and in my instance, the plastic viewing piece came off whilst pouring hot water and narrowly escaped scolding myself and those around me. For the price tag, you'd be foolish to consider that this product will last for more than a few years, but this has become a liability when using the kettle with children around. Disappointingly we have resorted to using a cheap kettle as replacement lids are not available.  In a feeble attempt to salvage the kettle, we tried to glue the plastic cover back on the lid but failed and were at a loss. 

If purchasing this product, please be wary of the lid failing and this product not last more than a couple of years.

We have had this kettle just over 2 years. It's utterly gorgeous and we couldn't have been happier with our purchase. But...and this is a big but, this kettle has been highly tempermental during its time with us. Unlike most kettles, it does not boil when the button is selected, it turns itself off - which means it requires more supervision than our toddler. Unless of course you wish to have 100 degrees hot water and then it does the exact opposite, once it starts boiling, it just can't help itself, it boils and boils until turned off.  Which fills our kitchen with more steam than a steam room, which is quite something.

It's been highly embarrassing whilst entertaining - promising our guests that "...we will get that coffee to you before it's your time to leave". At times it was just downright ridiculous (and stressful, when faced with a horde of children who require that pasta now please and thank you), how much cajoling was needed to get it to complete its actual purpose - to boil water.  Again, our toddler has nothing on this kettle, but its good looks and the temperature options made up for its faults. 

That was until yesterday, when the lid exploded whilst the kettle was being filled with water. The plastic around the lid is brittle and has cracked where every screw attached the inner lid to the frame (which has remained attached to the kettle).  One can only assume, it was all the extra steaming those screws have had.

Considering its pricetag and the unreliable electrical design that's gone into this kettle, I'm now sure I was expecting too much from this brand. It's a shame too, that these parts cannot be purchased to try and salvage this naughty kettle from landfill.  Judging by the numerous reviews, these faults are not limited to the kettle in our ownership, which has certainly quelled any feelings of animosity against this particular kettle. Which I expect will last until we purchase the next kettle...

I ordered the Sage smart kettle to match my Sage Barista Pro machine. It arrives the next morning (less than 24 hours) despite the order confirmation saying it would take 3-4 working days! It is well packaged just as the high standard that Sage products expected. It also comes with a sachet of descaler. When looking at the actual product, it is more sleek than the photo. Function wise, there are 5 temperature controls and a keep-warm button sitting neatly on the base, soft release lid is adding to the safety. Tested the 100 degree, it heats up really quickly! I am very pleased with the purchase and it is a great addition to my drink station!

As a high-end product, you would expect the kettle to last the course of time, but with the plastic viewing piece come off, it becomes unsafe to use if you are filling the kettle to the max. Beautiful Kettle with great features

I love this kettle! It looks great and the button option is so easy on the base. The lid has a lovely opening action which just glides as it opens. Simple to use by just selecting your required temperature you need and then unlike other kettles the on/off switch is also on the base which makes great sense. The keep warm function is also great, select your temperature you need, press the keep warm button and then the go button and it works just as it says on the box for the next 20 minutes. Maybe a little pricey for some people but it is really worth it in my eye to have such a great kettle. You won't be disappointed if you take the plunge.

Great - until it stops working

We have purchased two of these from new now… They are great kettles but expensive. With both of the kettles we have owned, they get to a point where contact between the base and the kettle no longer works… We’ve tried cleaning it but still nothing… And then today for no apparent reason the kettle has started to boil and boil and boil no matter what temperature you have set the water to and, worryingly, even if you placed the empty kettle down on the base having finished using it.

No buttons are pressed and yet it still starts boiling away. A real safety hazard. As much as I love these kettles I can’t justify another hundred pounds, especially given the problems.

Brought this kettle a while ago and the lid has cracked in several places.  As it was a more expensive kettle I was expecting this to last a lot longer! Very disappointed!!

Really disappointed with this kettle . It’s the second one I have had ( replaced 3 years ago!) and I already have problems with leaking underside and the ‘’on’ switch being temperamental! ( it switches off without heating!) 
Last one had the leaky bottom and the lid refusing to stay shut! 
I would expect it to last much longer considering the price! 
I given it 3 stars as it worked well until leaky bottom and the switch button 
My last kettle  (before the Sage product and another well known brand) lasted over 11years and was considerably less than this
