We recommend starting with setting 15 and adjusting it accordingly.

Cleaning Guides

Have you ever noticed your favourite barista is frequently cleaning their espresso machine and tools? It is essential to clean away loose coffee grounds and remove any coffee oils so they don't build up and affect the taste of your coffee. Brewing like a barista means cleaning like one too! Follow along to clean the portafilter and filter basket.

How to clean portafilter and filter basket

The shower screen of your Barista Pro™ is responsible for dispersing – or showering – hot water onto the puck of your coffee grounds. An even, gentle dispersal is best for creating the perfect espresso extraction.
That's why it is essential to keep the shower screen clean of loose grounds and coffee oil buildup. Simply follow along this guide.

How to clean the shower screen

Maintaining your Barista Pro™ in peak condition helps ensure each cup of coffee you brew is an exceptional experience. The drip tray tends to fill up with water, espresso, grounds and coffee oils, so we've outfitted the tray with an 'Empty Me' indicator that notifies you when it needs to be cleaned.

How to clean the drip tray

Regularly cleaning all of the components of the Barista Pro™ helps to ensure every cup of third wave coffee you brew is perfect. Follow along as our host and a professional barista demonstrate how to clean the grinder conical burrs, which are essential for achieving more consistently ground beans and an overall better espresso extraction.

How to clean grinder conical burrs

To ensure nothing interferes with the exceptional flavour of your freshly brewed coffee, maintain your Barista Pro™ in peak condition and regularly clean it. We recommend that you purge the group head before and after each brewing session to achieve great-tasting coffee every time. Using the machine to clean itself makes this purge both simple and highly effective.

Group head purge

A professional barista always keeps their espresso machine clean to ensure each cup of coffee tastes its very best. We recommend you do the same with your Barista Pro™ so that it's always ready to brew a perfect cup of third wave speciality coffee. Follow along as our host demonstrates how to clean the filter rinse basket.

Filter basket rinse

The Barista Pro™ makes it easy to steam your milk under sufficient pressure to form thousands of tiny bubbles, resulting in ideally textured milk. To ensure your textured milk is always perfectly delicious, it is essential to keep the steam wand clean. Follow along as our host describes and demonstrates how to do so.

Cleaning and unblocking the steam wand

Each filter processes the water that flows through it for 90 days, or 40L of water. At that time, you’ll need to change the water filter. Replacing the water filter is a simple process, and we will show you how!

How to replace the water filter

Delicious, cafe-quality coffee relies on using clean tools and keeping the Barista Pro™ free from coffee residue. This cleaning is so important, we have designed the machine to do the heavy lifting for you. Your espresso machine will alert you when it is time to run it through the cleaning cycle – follow along here.

How to perform a cleaning cycle

It is essential to keep your Barista Pro™ and its components clean and free from the buildup of coffee residue. We recommend that you perform a clear water backflush after each brewing session to clean any loose grounds, coffee oils and other residues from the espresso machine.

How to perform a clear water backflush

Perfectly textured milk is essential for creating latte art to top your favourite coffee beverages. You must keep the steam wand clean and clear of any blockage, so it is always ready to complete your next brew with a perfect dollop of textured milk. Follow along with our video as we demonstrate how to clean and unblock the steam wand.

How to clean and unblock the steam wand

Minerals can build up in the heating elements of your Barista Pro™ even with the water filter in place and this is when you will need to descale your machine. The LCD will indicate when a descale cycle is needed. The process for the Barista series works the same, so follow along to see how it's done.

Customising Your Machine

Freshly ground coffee beans are essential to the quality of your brew. With your new espresso machine, you can grind the coffee as you use it, capturing the full flavour and aroma of freshly ground coffee in every cup. This is known as manually dosing the coffee. Learn more about it here.

How to manually dose
