Cleaning Guides

To maintain the Barista Touch™ at peak efficiency so it continues to produce exceptional third wave speciality coffee, it's essential to regularly clean the portafilter and filter basket. Otherwise, coffee residue and espresso oils may build up on the components of your machine. Follow along to see how it's done.

How to clean portafilter and filter basket

To ensure that every coffee you create tastes its best, you’ll need to properly clean and maintain your machine. One essential step is to periodically rinse your shower screen. Simply follow our easy guide.

How to clean the shower screen

Cleaning your machine's drip tray regularly will help to ensure you can continue to make the perfect cup of coffee at home. The "Empty Me" indicator on the drip tray will show when it needs cleaning.

How to clean the drip tray

Your Barista Touch™ is equipped with a conical burr grinder for superior quality coffee. Keeping the conical burr clean along with the rest of the machine will ensure you are always ready to brew an exceptional cup of coffee. We demonstrate how to thoroughly clean the components of the burr grinder.

Purging the group head at the beginning and end of each brewing session is an essential step toward maintaining your machine; otherwise, coffee bean oils and residue can build up, preventing the smooth, clean functioning of your Barista Touch™.

Group head purge

To ensure your Barista Touch™ delivers exquisite, third wave speciality coffee every time, it is vital to keep the machine and its parts and accessories clean and free from coffee bean oils and residue buildup. We demonstrate how to perform a filter basket rinse before and after each coffee brewing session.

Filter basket rinse

To ensure your milk is at its very best every time, make sure to keep the steam wand clean. We will take you through the simple care needed to keep your steam wand at peak efficiency.

Cleaning and unblocking the steam wand

Perfectly filtered water is essential for enjoying smooth, full-bodied coffee without the bitterness. The Barista Touch™ comes complete with a water filtration system to ensure your coffee is delicious, cup after cup – just remember to change your water filter every 90 days or after using 40L of water.

How to replace the water filter

Regular maintenance and cleaning is crucial – and the smart design of the Barista Touch™ makes that easy. Your machine will notify you when a cleaning cycle is needed and we will guide you through it to produce better extractions and prevent a buildup of oils, milk or grounds with this step-to-step guide.

How to perform a cleaning cycle

To ensure nothing comes between you and the full-bodied flavour of your coffee, we recommend completing a clear water backflush of the system at the end of each brewing session. This removes any coffee oil residue buildup so your machine is always ready to make another exceptional cup of brew.

How to perform a clear water backflush

Perfectly textured milk elevates excellent coffee to sublime, but it won't happen unless your machine is clean. Learn how to clean the steam wand on the Barista Touch™ and remove occasional blockages so you can always enjoy beautifully textured milk.

How to clean and unblock the steam wand

Personalise the settings on your machine to fit you.

Customising Your Machine

It’s time to learn how to program your machine to customise your favourite drinks exactly the way you like them, just like your favourite barista would.

How to customise and save a drink selection

Did you know that different types of coffee beans require different temperatures to best extract their full flavours? Professional baristas know this, and so does your Barista Touch™. You can adjust the temperature of your brewing with just a few taps of your finger.

How to adjust the brew temperature

Various milk types and milk alternatives will require a different temperature to be perfectly textured. You can adjust and personalise your taste and preferences with the Barista Touch™.

How to adjust milk temperature and texture

The Barista Touch™ gives you the power to create luxurious, third wave speciality coffee in your own home. However, making perfectly extracted espresso or ideally textured milk is not enough. You want to be able to customise your coffee to your specific taste, just like your favourite barista does. We will guide you through how to make these changes.

How to change settings

Sometimes you want a fresh start. Should you ever wish to override all the customisations you've made to your machine so you can start over, it's easy to reset the Barista Touch™ back to its factory defaults. When you reset to factory defaults, all settings changes you have made will be deleted, including all custom drinks.

How to perform a factory reset

Your Barista Touch™ will indicate when a descale cycle is needed. This is when the build up of minials in the machine can effect the taste of your coffee. Your Barista Touch™ will guide you through the cycle, but the process for the Barista series works the same, so you can also follow along to see how it's done.
